Colonel Oliver J. Bond, SCM (1908-1931)
Born in Marion, South Carolina in 1865, Oliver Bond graduated from ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ in 1886. He became Assistant Professor of Mathematics and later Professor of Mechanical Drawing and Astronomy at ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ.
In 1908, Colonel Bond was appointed Superintendent of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. The title changed in 1921 to President, and he served his newly named position until 1931.
After retirement, Colonel Bond remained at ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ as Dean of the College. He was the author of The Story of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ, which covers the institution’s history from 1822 to 1932. Colonel Bond died in 1933.
