{"id":309,"date":"2022-07-14T14:34:01","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T18:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/civil-environmental\/?page_id=309"},"modified":"2023-04-14T13:34:59","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T17:34:59","slug":"requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/civil-environmental\/graduate-programs\/ms-civil-engineering\/requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-program-requirements\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Master of Science in Civil Engineering is conferred upon those candidates who successfully complete an approved program of study consisting of 30 semester hours of graduate credit as delineated below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are expected to complete all degree requirements within a six-year period from the time of registration in their first graduate course at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ. Any transfer credit must have been earned within six years prior to admission into ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ MSCE program. Any prerequisites for applicable courses must be met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-requirement-overview\">Requirement Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>30 semester hours of graduate credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 courses (18 hours) minimum from Civil Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 courses (12 hours) in technical or non-technical classes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer Credit: 2 courses may be transferred (Additionally, through an articulation, 5 graduate courses can be completed at Clemson University)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduation-requirements-non-credit-bearing\">Graduation Requirements (non-credit bearing)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ\u2019s Principled Leadership Seminar, LDRS 500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduation-requirements-course-requirements\">Graduation Requirements (Course Requirements)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All degree candidates must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work with an advisor to formulate a plan of study outlining the intended areas of interest and listing the top four corresponding courses of interest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete at least 6 courses (18 hours) minimum from the civil engineering areas of study below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete 4 courses (12 hours) in technical or non-technical classes listed below. Other electives will be considered on a case-by-case basis with approval from the department head.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Transfer Credit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A maximum of two courses (6 credit hours) may be transferred in from a regionally accredited college or university, provided: (1) grades of \u201cB\u201d or better were received in the courses being considered, (2) credit was earned within six years prior to admission into ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ MSCE program, and (3) each course has been approved by the department head. A maximum of five courses (15 credit hours) may be transferred in from Clemson University, provided: (1) grades of \u201cB\u201d or better were received in the courses being considered, (2) credit was earned within six years prior to admission into ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ MSCE program, and (3) each course has been approved by the department head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer Credit from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A maximum of 12 hours may be transferred from one ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ graduate degree program where appropriate, provided that core degree requirements are met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements for Graduation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The degree of Master of Science in Civil Engineering may be conferred upon those students who successfully complete the 30 hours of graduate coursework as specified above with a grade-point ratio (GPR) of 3.0 or better on hours earned at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ.
