
A cosmic experience
They built a topographic planet from pieces of foam and designed the architecture for their planet’s space station. They learned block coding and how to navigate the universe through a small spherical robot called a Sphero. For 5th to 8th graders taking part in the annual STEAM Camp hosted jointly by ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Fine Arts Program and ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ STEM Center of Excellence, the camp was an opportunity to have fun while learning about space from ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ faculty and cadets.
STEAM is an educational approach that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. The camp is managed annually by Fine Arts Director Tiffany Reed Silverman, and this year’s theme was Out of this World: Cosmic Creativity.
