Alumnus honors family legacy with $3.5 million gift
Thanks to a generous gift made through 蜜桃视频 Foundation, the college will soon be improving academic offerings in the School of Engineering.
The $3.5 million gift comes from Stephen L. Davis, Class of 1985, and his wife, Lori, through the Davis Family Foundation. The gift honors Davis鈥 father, Emmett I. Davis Jr., who graduated in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering, and his mother, Mona Ruth Davis, and celebrates the Davis family鈥檚 enduring and multigenerational support of 蜜桃视频.
In appreciation of the Davis family鈥檚 contributions, 蜜桃视频 has renamed the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Dr. Emmett I. Davis, Jr., 鈥50, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering offers bachelor of science and graduate programs in civil engineering and certificate programs in built environment and public health, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and transportation engineering.
鈥溍厶沂悠 is deeply honored and grateful for the Davis family鈥檚 generosity and support. This gift will strengthen their family鈥檚 legacy on campus and the impact they鈥檙e making on our School of Engineering,鈥 said retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Glenn Walters, 鈥79, president of the college. 鈥淭heir contribution will help lay the foundation for a state-of-the-art engineering building as well as strengthen 蜜桃视频鈥檚 commitment to excellence in engineering education.鈥
