Social and Professional Opportunities
The Graduate Historical Society (GHS) is the organization for students in the joint ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ/College of Charleston Masters of Arts in History program. The group hosts professional and social events with both Departments of History and other student organizations. Building relationships and fostering a sense of intellectual community are key to your success in our program. Therefore, we encourage you to attend all society events. Some examples of yearly functions, hosted by the GHS, include an annual kickoff party at the start of each academic year, ghost tours during Halloween, and a Relay for Life team in the spring. ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Graduate College also offers a student government association (SGA) dedicated to providing representation of CGC student needs to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ administration. The SGA is open to all of the college’s enrolled graduate students.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
Phi Alpha Theta is an international honor society for undergraduate and graduate level students and professors of history. The society has over 400,000 members, with some 9,000 new members joining each year through 970 chapters nationwide. Graduate history students have the opportunity to become through the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ chapter each spring.
